“There Is No Cement Shortage in The Quake Region”  

Speaking to TRT Haber on Thursday, 17 February, TÜRKÇİMENTO President Fatih Yücelik drew attention to the magnitude of the earthquake and the destruction it caused and said:  

“There will be a need for around 10 million tons of cement for the reconstruction of the region and we are in a position to meet much more than this figure through our 17 factories that can supply cement to the region. Approximately 600 thousand tons of cement will be needed for 30 thousand houses which will begin to be constructed in March.

Cement prices have been discussed on different platforms to date, but the main criterion used by producers for determining price is the cost. Unless there is an increase in costs, none of our manufacturers has great sensitivity regarding these figures.

Expressing that nearly 300 containers will be sent to the region, Yücelik said, “We are sending our containers, which will shelter thousands of people, to Kahramanmaraş. We will rapidly deliver them and related furnishings to the region.”
